Uganda President Museveni to address NMG’s Kusi Festival

Uganda’s President Museveni has accepted an invitation to attend and speak at this year’s Kusi Ideas Festival organised by Nation Media Group (NMG), the largest media house in East and Central Africa.

Launched in 2019 as part of NMG’s 60th anniversary celebrations, the festival is hailed as an “ideas transaction market” for the challenges facing Africa and the various solutions and innovations the continent is undertaking to secure its future.  After editions in Kigali, Rwanda and Kisumu, Kenya, this year’s edition will be held in Accra, Ghana, on December 10-11, 2021.

NMG Board Chairperson Wilfred Kiboro delivered the invitation during a meeting between the President and senior NMG executives at State House Entebbe yesterday where a wide range of issues of mutual interest were discussed.

“Uganda is a very strong country,” Mr Museveni said.  “The economy is very strong and the army is very strong and some people are not happy with that.”

Mr Kiboro thanked President Museveni for leading Uganda’s response to the coronavirus pandemic and pledged the support of NMG platforms in the country in encouraging mass vaccination against Covid-19.

ICT Minister Chris Baryomunsi attended the meeting and welcomed renewed channels of communication between government agencies and the media house.
